My Dad

Today is my dad's birthday. He died 2 years ago tomorrow. He was the greatest dad. My mom and dad had 4 girls so I know he must have gone crazy some days with all of us women in the house, but he never complained. He was so kind to my mom. He would do anything for her. They had a great marriage and a good life together. They did so much! He lived a full, fun life. I miss my dad. I miss his smile. I miss him singing songs and whistling. I miss his hugs. Here is something that my sister Sharon wrote about him.

Growing Up With a Dad Like You

When I was a little girl I worshipped my daddy so much
He always seemed more special than other daddy's
I felt like the luckiest daughter alive

Growing up was easier for me than most little girls
Because I could talk to my daddy about anything
He always listened and he always cared.

When I was young he sang me lullabies
When I got married he harmonized sweet blessings
Still, as I grow older,
When I close my eyes
I here his sweet distinctive melody
In my every thought.

Awwww.  What a bittersweet day.  And to die so close to his own birthday.  It must be heartbreaking to lose a parent.  I don't even want to imagine it.  He sounds like he was a very special man.  Especially to have all his girls love him so much!  {{hugs}}

2nd Chemo down!

I had my second chemo on Monday and so far so good. Aside from a little fatigue and stomach stuff going on I'm doing ok. I may have overdone it yesterday though. I went to the Look Good Feel Better class that the American Cancer Society offers. It was wonderful! I have been volunteering with the Realy for Life for 4 years and I actually got to see what some of our money has been going for. My mom and Sue went with me. Then of course the lady that was running it had to go and do the tupperware introduce yourself game. I was the last one and when I opened my mouth I said my name and why I was there and how my family is here and how much they support me and I have 2 kids and then I started crying.....oh god! Then my mom and Sue were crying. I got over it once I opened the bag and saw all the goodies though. They gave me a big bag just filled with makeup, and I am talking good makeup! The kind I walk past in the department store and dream about! They showed how to put on your eyebrows ...

Not Feeling So Well...

Hi everyone, this is Trish's sister Sue again.  Trish has not been feeling too well and on Friday we had to take her to the ER department.  She is so weak and was very close to having pneumonia.  She has been on antibiotics for 12 days now and they are concerned about why she is not getting better.  Needless to say, we are very worried.  She feels a little better today, but is on oxygen and just has absolutely no energy.  They have been giving her breathing treatments since yesterday, and some other medicines in her IV.  They are bringing in an infectious disease doctor to see if they can pinpoint what is going on.  She will be there until at least Monday.  She has her scans (right there) on Monday too.  We'll keep you posted - please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Mom's surgery.

My mom had her surgery today and everything went good. They said that they will be getting her up tomorrow to move around a little. I couldn't be at the hospital today because last night around 9:00 my stomach started feeling weird. By 11:00 I had a full blown stomach virus. I was so sick and all I could think about was my mom's surgery and how I had to be there. Megan took great care of me, but I was so bad that I almost passed out. I was up every half hour until about 7:00 this morning running to the bathroom. It was not good. I finally remembered that I had some compazine left from when I was having chemotherapy. It helps with the upset stomach. I took that and went to bed all day. I am still feeling crappy but mostly tired. I am just happy that my mom's surgery went good. I talked to her on the phone and she sounded good. I am off to bed so I can rest up and see her tomorrow. My head is still really fuzzy.
