Feeling better!

I went to the oncologist Monday and when he saw how sick I was and how bad my chest was rattling they hooked my up with  IV antibiotics.  I also had a shot of steroids. I am already starting to feel better! I had more energy today than I have had in 3 weeks! I even cooked for my family!  I had to sit down a lot but it was nice to get up and do something.  Monday I couldn't even walk to my bathroom and today I cleaned it! hee hee. I can honestly say that the way I feel today makes me know that I will be ok. I was getting scared there for a while when I wasn't bouncing back from that last chemo.

My mom came today and did all my laundry. I just can't walk up and down the stairs.  She has gone to all my appointments with me!  I love her so much.

Megan's 18th birthday is tomorrow!  I can't believe my little baby girl is growing up. :(

I have to go next Monday and have all my scans done. A bone scan, and a CT scan of my abdomen, thorax and pelvis. I just know that it will all turn out ok.  I will start radiation after my tests are done. I am so ready to have my life back. This had been one heck of a ride. One that I don't ever want to get on again!

Good news!  You even sound like you are feeling better!  And hopeful.  Um, I don't think cleaning is the FIRST thing that I'd do - but I certainly understand the satisfaction you got from being able to do something NORMAL.  Good luck on all your tests.  I hope they can get it all done at once, and not a long series of things.
Take care,  Stephanie

Trish glad you are feeling better....know its been a long hard road, you keep hanging in there dear.  Want to mention something you may already know about, but if you haven't read or heard about this want to pass on to you.  Prior to starting radiation, the sooner the better, take daily some ginger, be it in spice form, tea, gingersnap cookies....read years ago in a Doctors column how this helps with the burning sensations, etc. that radiation can cause.  Have past this on to many folks having radiation including my Sis Mary Ann and it seems to have helped them all.  Arlene (AJ)

Here we go again

And  here we go again. Really? Really?!!! My biggest fear has come true. After eleven years of looking over my shoulder this stupid cancer has come back. I'm more pissed off than scared. Every year I was cancer free, I would announce to anyone that would listen, "it's been five years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer, it's been ten years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer" I just reached eleven years in August of 2017 and said with pride, "it's been eleven years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer" This sucks! I am devastated. I just don't want to go through this again. I know what I'm in for......

Radiation begins!

I waited ten days to hear from someone about starting radiation and this morning I get a call saying, can you be here at 11:45? Yikes no time to think! I was really nervous about it. I called my mom and she came to my rescue. Today was actually a dry run, I start tomorrow and I don’t really have a schedule yet. I have to do it at their convenience because there are no regular time slots open. So starting tomorrow I will go everyday except Saturday and Sunday for 7 weeks for a total of 35 treatments. That means I will end some where around June 12. I heard it takes longer to change your clothes than it does to do the treatment. Today I had to lay on the table in the little form they made for me and this huge machine rotated around me and they made sure everything was lining up right. They also gave me a little bar code on a card that I have to scan everyday and it lets them know I am there for treatment. Then I go into the changing room and change into my lovely gown. Then I just wai...

I have good news!

My mom is finally home! I went picked her up today. She is feeling really good. And I have great news! Her thyroid biopsy was benign!!! We are so relieved. She has to follow up with the cardiologist in 2 weeks but they seem to think that her heart rate was dropping due to the surgery because all of her tests came back good. I took her to get her prescription and she was so happy because it only costs $4.00! She has to be on it forever so she was worried it was going to cost a fortune. Sam’s Club has a deal with certain prescription drugs and they are all $4.00! So if your paying a lot somewhere else go check out the list and see if your drugs on there. I asked the guy if there were any chemo drugs and he laughed and said are you kidding me! lol I did see the lidocane that I use on my port to numb it before chemo, and I pay a higher copay with insurance so I may be going there soon. As for me I am having a really good day. I feel great. I have chemo on Monday, so just like last ti...
